George W. Vanderbilt and Edith Stuyvesant Dresser, friends of Larz and Isabel Anderson, were married in Paris on June 1 and June 2, 1898. The first wedding event, on June 1, was the civil ceremony required by French law.  A religious ceremony was performed the next day in the American Church of the Holy Trinity in Paris.

The original text of the marriage license in French appears here along with a photograph of the 8th Arrondissement Town Hall, the Hôtel de Contades, where the civil ceremony took place on June 1, 1898.

The marriage license in English appears here, along with a photograph of Edith’s apartment building at the time of the wedding.
